PINK T-SHIRT and ANTI BULLYING DAY!
WHEN: Friday, May 30th
WHERE: Centre School, Nova Scotia
TIME: 12pm – 2pm
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We would love for you to attend our anti-bullying event!
The children will all be given their pink shirts to wear on that morning. After recess the students will be participating inanti-bullying workshops and making banners for our event.
Our barbecue is being sponsored by Shawn Allen and Cardinal Fire & Safety which they have generously donated and is free for all attending our event! We will be enjoying hot dogs, hamburgers and juice. Please send in a recess snack and you may also send a lunch in with your child if you don’t think they’ll want a barbecued hamburger or barbecued hotdog.
The elementary students will be given the opportunity to eat at the barbecue first, upper elementary and then the high school.
At noon busses will be bringing children from Lunenburg Academy, Lunenburg Jr. High School and Riverport. Those children will be given pink anti-bullying ribbons to wear as they enter the school. Paul Smith and Himmelman’s Jewellers generously donated our pink ribbons!
Kelsie and Rachel will be introducing our guest speaker, Hetty van Gurp. Ms. van Gurp, an internationally recognized educator and author is the founder of Peaceful Schools International which is a charitable organization that promotes a peaceful culture in our schools. We are very fortunate to have her participation. You may find out more information about the work she does at
http://peacefulschoolsinternational.org/ Kelsie, Rachel and the ABC (anti bullying committee) will be reading a pledge out loud. Everyone attending will be asked to raise their hand and to show their support to be a part of the solution to help end bullying.
We will then all enjoy Air Traffic Control! A huge thank you to Clearwater for sponsoring the band!
Busses for Riverport and Lunenburg Schools will be arriving between 1:30 and 2:00pm. We ask that no park in the bus area so that the busses may come and go.
We are asking the families who attend leave at 2pm, so as not to interfere with the Centre 2:30pm bus dismissal. When you attend the event you may sign out your children, however they will then be your responsibility. They may leave with you at 2pm. If you attend the event and would like your children to remain with their class, please do not sign them out.
Thank you to the children and parents for supporting our Avon anti-bullying fund-raiser and thank you to Mrs Sawler and Miss Tretheway and their elementary students for designing our awesome logo and slogan! J
